A report from USA Facts showed that the average wait time for a decision on disability benefits applications had reached a 14-year high of seven months. This has been blamed on years of inadequate funding, meaning the Social Security Administration cannot keep up with the demand for service and increasing fixed costs.

The wait times in Ohio are pushing out to over a year! Disability Determination Services, which assesses disability claims, has been hit particularly hard. "Due to historically high attrition as workloads become less reasonable with fewer staff."
