Working the case together
Casper, Casper & Casper welcomes the opportunity to co-counsel cases with other attorneys, so that their clients receive experienced representation in personal injury, Social Security disability and workers’ compensation.
The situation is a familiar one. A client you have counseled or represented, or a member of their family, comes to you with something you do not handle. You want them properly looked after and you would rather not simply hand them a name and lose sight of the matter.
Co-counseling keeps you in it. You remain involved, you keep the relationship with your client, and the day to day work in our three areas is carried by attorneys who do it every day.
- You stay involved It remains your client and your relationship.
- Three focused areas Personal Injury, disability and workers’ compensation.
- Decades of practice A family firm that has done this work for generations.
- A straight answer If it is not for us, we will tell you that too.
The matters we take on with other firms
We concentrate on three areas, and they are the three we are useful in.
Personal injury and vehicle accidents
Car, truck and motorcycle collisions, pedestrian and bicycle claims, and rideshare matters. The work is the investigation, the medical picture and the negotiation with an insurer that does this professionally.
Social Security disability
Applications, reconsideration, hearings before an Administrative Law Judge, and appeals beyond that. It is a federal system with its own evidence and its own rhythm, and it rewards familiarity.
Ohio workers’ compensation
BWC claims, allowance disputes, and appeals through the Industrial Commission. The deadlines are short and the medical evidence decides most of it.
Questions attorneys ask
General information, not legal advice. Every case turns on its own facts. The only way to know where yours stands is to have someone look at it.
What does co-counseling look like in practice?
You stay in the matter and we carry the work in our area. How closely you want to be involved day to day is yours to decide, and it is worth agreeing at the outset rather than assuming. We will set out clearly what we will be doing before anything starts.
Do I lose the relationship with my client?
No. That is the point of working it together rather than passing it on. The client stays yours, you remain in the matter, and you keep whatever contact with them you want to keep.
What if I am not sure the matter is one of yours?
Ask. Describing the facts takes a few minutes, and we’ll give you a straight answer. If it is not work we do, we will say so, and where we can point you somewhere more useful we will.
Do you act for clients outside Southwest Ohio?
Tell us where the matter arises and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right firm for it. A Social Security claim is federal and the geography works differently from an injury or a workers’ compensation matter.
How quickly can you look at something?
Send us the outline and we will come back to you. Where a deadline is close, say so in the first line and we will treat it accordingly.
The three areas in detail
Our client-facing pages set out how each of these works, if you want the detail before you call.
